Swim Meet 101
Prepare before arriving to the meet
● Arrive on time (15 minutes early is on time)
● Swimmer must check in with a coach
● Write the swimmers Events on are, i.e:
E# / H / L
Event / H / L
#2 25 Free
#12 25 back
They will get the heat and lane from the coaches
What To Bring To A Swim Meet
● Team suit
● Goggles: We recommend having two pairs of goggles just in case one of them breaks.
● Towels: We suggest 2 towels.
● Most facilities do not allow food on deck, however, please bring snacks for the swimmers to have off deck. All facilities do not allow glass containers. It is highly encouraged that your swimmer bring multiple bottles of water to the meet.
● Lawn chairs for the parents (optional)
● Summer Rockets Team Cap and Team Shirt
A Few Reminders:
● Please label all of your swimmers belongings.
● Please make sure swimmers have their Events, Heats and Lanes labeled on their arm prior to coming to the meet.
● Please arrive to the swim meets 15 - 20 minutes prior to warm-up and ready to swim.
● Please check in as soon as you arrive at the pool.
● In case of rain: Always assume the meet will happen. Coaches will reach out to you through the remind app and/or by email.
● It is important you attend every meet possible as everybody is important.
● Swimmers should sit with the team in their designated area at the meets at all times. Support your teammates by cheering, offering congratulations and support. Show respect for meet officials as well as other teams and coaches.
● Please wait until the end of the meet (after we do our team cheer) to leave the meet.
● Stay in the water after they finish their race until the last person finishes.
● Shake the swimmers hands on both sides of them after they finish all races and say “good job”.
